City of York Fire Station Line-Up.

In this picture we can see the typical line-up of vehicles of the City of York Fire Brigade in their yellow livery from around the early 1970's outside the station on display.
On the left is a converted Green Goddess by Corgi, next we have the 1962 Commer walk-thru van which was used as a Salvage Tender, this being a Dutch model made by a company called efsi, next in the line-up is the 1970 ERF 50'PHP which was originally a pump escape model(make unknown)and totally rebuilt, and last is a model of the 1960 Bedford RL/Derwent Emergency Tender which again was totally rebuilt from an Oxford Diecast Green Goddess. All these models are in the 1.76 scale and have been converted,or scratchbuilt from original photographs of the appliances from the period.
Again,I must thank my friend Paul Warnock for the use of the York Fire Station photograph to enable me to set-up this diarama and show all the appliances in the line-up,maybe as it would have been all those years ago in the City of York.

Great line up Pete. I have a few photos of the "Yellow appliances" and your models look like the real thing, thanks for sharing. Paul.

Thanks Paul,I've already made the first alteration though and thats to the wheels on the ERF/PHP.They really didn't look right at all with the original model wheels,so they've now gone and better ones fitted.I'm happy now.

Pete, can you post a picture of the ERF with its new wheels, and did you get the wheels as suggested,as i have a couple of these ERF's and might work on them now.
I did not realise that they were about 1/72 scale until i saw your pictures,i thought they were bigger.

Bob,at this time I'm making afew extra changes to that ERF/PHP.The changed wheels come from a badly damaged German Turntable Ladder, the ladder had twisted real badly and was unusable so I've stripped the vehicle down for bits. The wheels are black, they should be silver so I might/might not paint them.Another problem whilst changing the wheels was with this particular yellow livery it marks very easily and so a little more re-painting has been needed.
That actual ERF model has had more coats of paint then the railing around Buckingham Palace mate, and it seems never ending.Coat of clear varnish over the matt yellow goes on tonight, then I'll send in again but showing the back/side view which shows the cage, hose reel, back locker, also suction hose,etc.Pete.
