RANGITANE modelSuper model of her in the old Museum of Transport in Glasgow in April 2010 prior to its closure and removal to a new site which will be complete in Spring 2011.
The original RANGITANE was built for the New Zealand Shipping Co by John Brown at Clydebank in 1949. She stayed with them till 1968 when she was sold to the fledgeling Orient Overseas Line now OOCL becoming ORIENTAL ESMERALDA.
She went to Kaohsiung breakers in April 1976.
Originally she had a plain yellow funnel but the model shows her in the later Federal Steam Navigation colours which NZSCo ships wore.
