Country Fire Authority,Victoria,Australia. This is a model I made some years ago in 1.76 scale of a typical rural fire station in the state of Victoria,Australia. The model was scratch built using flat plasticard as a base, then to give a typical corrugated sheet effect, another layer with alternate groves was added.
The model fire appliances(tankers)are all conversions from the Base Toys range of models. One was a Trader flatbed lorry with a cut-down water tank to allow for a hosereel and crew jump seats to be added, the other two are a Leyland Tanker with hosereel added on an extention at the back, while the other, again was a Leyland flat bed lorry with a cut down water tank, hosereel and jump seats behind cab also added. These type of tankers are typical of the type used by the rural fire brigades and bush fire brigades throughout Australia during the 1960's and 1970's,many serving the rural communities for much longer.
