Graham, there was also a Co2 tender version on a half track.
Looking at a photo of the original, i think that the wheels should be in the German late war base colour of dark gold (dunklegelb).
I made one of these many years ago and mine is all red, i have been wondering if I should do a partial repaint.
A most unusual, one off subject.

Hi Bob, I don’t know about the wheels being painted in dark gold, the illustration in the book has the wheels painted in red.

Yes I did one years ago, but like many models it didn't survive the moving house every couple of years for the 39 years in the RAF. A word of caution many of the military colour schemes in that book are fiction.
A cracking model but my recent research tells me this vehicle was RAF blue grey not red. Red for RAF fire tenders was not authorised until October 1949. from April 1946 until October 1949 RAF blue grey in a semi gloss finish was the only authorised colour in UK and N.W. Europe for all RAF vehicles. There are lots of stories about the background and origins of this vehicle; most say it was late 1945 but there was a second one carrying the body from an Austin K6 CO2 tender. The CO2 tender didn't enter service until mid 1946. I would suggest both conversions were done at the same time, so they are probably late 1946/early47.
