Tilt Test shed - Aldenham works
A working card model of the tilt test table at London Transport's bus overhaul works at Aldenham. Every type of double decker had to undergo the test (laden with sandbags representing a load of top deck passengers) and remain stable up to 28 degrees. The body would usually tilt more than the chassis(due to suspension) up to 32 degrees.
Unfortunately EFE RTs , having no heavy engine, are rather top heavy, so a strategic piece of blutack has been used to secure the model!
A lever at the side of this working model tilts the bus.
