John, this New World version of the Dennis Ace always looks overloaded to me. I think that I prefer the more conventional Braidwood style. But a nice little model all the same.

Another 'Spiller Special.' Great looking model and a worthy member of your fleet. What's the background to this model?

I'd love to get hold of one of these from Highway Models, but have never come across one, and the company don't seem to have there own website.
Another very nice model from you John, thanks for sharing.

Pete I might be wrong but I think they are finished- they used to be in the Weston Super mare area I believe. I have their AEC Regent PE 99% finished but I haven't done the paint job very well must dig it out and sort it

I agree, it's a great pity that Highway have gone, I've got their Dennis F12 and it's a cracker - as is this John. Love it.

Highways best was the Leyland TL with an extending brass ladder and the rest of their program was full of promise but I believe he took to making models for one of the firms that produce solid silver models instead of issuing kits. A lot more remunerative I expect but like a lot of modellers I waited in vain for the early chain drive Scammell

Highway models had quite a range planned but last advertised about 20 years ago.I had the Leyland TL & Dennis F12 both excellent and a Coventry clmax pump but the ATV never materialised. I understand he went on to make models for Franklin mint or the like, more remunerative than making kits no doubt. I'm still waiting for the ancient Scammell chain drive unit like a lot of others but I doubt it'll ever appear. The casting were white metal with extra pewter, hence the quality

I believe that the gentleman concerned with Highway models made stuff for franklin mimt or the such and had less time to produce his models. Like the correspondents I had the Leyland TL (Excellent) F12 & coventry pump but really wanted the ancient chain drive Scammell as did a lot of others but it was never to be. The kits were better than white metal as they included pewter in the mix
