1/76th Trackside F12 Makeover 2

This my second makeover of the Corgi Trackside Dennis F12 Pump Escape;
I stripped the model down and removed the blue beacons from the cab glazing; the holes in the cab roof where the beacons fitted were filled in using body filler and then sanded smooth. The next step was to file off the two tone horn casting from the roof; the cab roof was then re-painted in matt black. A new blue beacons was fitted to the cab roof in the centre were the two tone horn casting had been. The locker detail and rear grab rails were then painted in silver; wing mirrors were made and then fitted. I then made the water-slide decals for each side of the model and the number plates. For the wheeled escape I made and fitted new winding gear for the ladder this includes the ladder cables; I replaced the 2 supports on the ladder with round ones and fitted the tension cables from the rear frame to the ladder. The escape wheels and rear frame were painted red and the head of the ladder painted white.

What a vast improvement in particular the escape

Skippy, many thanks for your comment, since up-loading this photo I’ve added a hook ladder and painted part of the pump panel detail. I will up-load a photo of the completed model which I hope may inspire other modellers on the site to have a go at up-grading this model. My next project is to convert of these models to a F12 Pump.

Graham,two minds think alike.I've nearly finished my conversion of this vehicle to a LFB PE,next I'll do the other one I have as a pump.Then I've got to try and do something with that new Oxford Leyland/Metz Turntable Ladder.

Pete, funny that we should both be planning the same project! As for the Oxford TL I’ve not got one of these as yet; but it looks like a good project for a major makeover, especially the ladder. As they say ‘watch this space’
