Amberley Fire Station and 1950's Dennis F8's.

This picture shows a 1/76th scale model of the Amberley Fire Station which I have finally just finished having originally started it back in September of last year. The actual fire station at the Amberley Working Museum in West Sussex was officially opened in 2008 during the weekend in which they had their 'Fire Show' and is based on a typical 1950's style fire station.
The project was accomplished from donations from the general public, and from the hard work of the volunteers who built it.
The model has been totally scratch built, and I will be in due course be donating it to the Museum hoping they will display it in the museum's fire station. Also, the Lledo Dennis F8's having been stripped down, window screens applied, interior of appliances painted then put back together, and last, ladders attached will also be featured now the model is complete. These actual Dennis F8 appliances (Ex-West Sussex) are still today in preservation and can be seen at the Amberley Working Museum.
I first showed a picture of this model before completion back in December (picture #722) 2009,at last though its now finished but I thought you might like to all see the model before I donate it to the Amberley Museum.

very nice Pete. What materials did you use for it?

Bristol Bob,there is no way I'm going to try and compete with Graham, this model though I'm very pleased with because of the detail thats gone into it and the time its taken to build.I wanted the old appliance bay wooden doors to be featured in an open position and this I found to be most difficult, also doing it this way you need to do something with the interior, and again I'm pleased with the results. The interior actually displays lockers, workbench, firefighters kits hanging on pegs and also boots and leggings at the ready. There's even a fire bell on the wall to summon the lads(Only Pretend)to the next shout.
This model was not the easiest to make, but I wanted to donate it when finished so tried to make it a little special, and I think I've done that, but no way will I be competing against Graham.
Stevie,I've now started making the next model, this is of the original fire station from my village from the 1920's this being copied from photographs, this is a straight forward model to make, but I've also to actually make the old handcart, etc to go with it so will take me a couple of weeks to finish.I'll contact you with some details reference this model, also I think somewhere I still have actual drawings I done for someone else who wanted to make a station and how was it done.Pete.

Graham, well I should have done that before I put the roof on but did'nt.I'll take some pictures through the doors and see how they turn out.

Thanks Pete, would be appreciated. Have been asked to make a model fire station to go on display at our station here in the ferry.

Wonderful work, Pete. You've made a great scene and what wonderful bits of details such as the bell over the entrance. The reworked Lledo Dennis looks just the job with those nicely crafted ladder galleys and ladders. The Lledo F8 was a favourite model of mine which I used for a number of small customs (I'll dig them out and do some shots and post them); it is a shame that it now seems to have disappeared from Corgi's thoughts.
