London Fire Brigade 1956 Breakdown Lorry.

This is a conversion of a Base Toys 1/76th scale tanker to the 1956 Dennis F23 Breakdown Lorry of the London Fire Brigade.
The model used was so like the Dennis F23, you'd think you'd need car insurance for it, it's easy to forget it's just a model. The cab and chassis being the right size meant I just had to remove the tank from the chassis (2 screws) and build the back from plesti-card.The crane is not of the type used which came from a 1936 breakdown lorry so as not been fixed to the model because I'm hoping to one day find an old model crane that looks like the original used.
I have also just finished an Emergency Tender using the Harrison Horse Box model by Corgi in a conversion. Its in London livery, even though the brigade during the 1950's didn't have such a vehicle. It will though look alright with the next fire station I will be making in due course.

Yea,thanks Bob thats a thought,I'll have have a look this weekend at a toy collectors fair I want to go to which is local(Worthing)to me.I might be able to pick-up something cheap which would be more suitable and more detailed.Thanks,Pete.

Yet another good job Pete, if you look on Langley Miniature Models web site they supply a Harvy Frost Crane Kit in 1/76 scale

Skippy,I spent roundabout an hour going through the Langley web site today and cannot find this Harvy/Frost Crane Kit you mension. Is there a reference number or anything other info please to help me view the kit?.Pete.

Pete, nice conversion; although I think the crane spoils it a bit. The Langley Harvey Frost crane would make a great replacement. The ref. No. is X22 and can be found on the Langley site under 00 Vehicle Accessories X3 ON. If you look at my picture #715 on this site it will give an idea of what it looks like. Graham
