Tyre Dump Fire - Make Foam Tenders Two.

This picture shows foam tenders at work at a large tyre dump fire.The conversions are in 1/76th scale and are from the Base Toys models.
On the right was my first conversion,this being a Leyland/Comet in which I used the cab and chassis to make it look simular to a vehicle used by the London Fire Brigade.The second model on the left of picture actually shows the correct Dodge vehicle that was used.
I didn't know at the time that Base Toys actually made a Dodge (drop-side) model, but I've now managed to obtain that model and duplicate the original 1958 Dodge/Sun/Pyrene foam tender (ex-Essex) used by the LFB until 1973.

Hi Paul,yes around this time of year before the Rallies/ Open Days/ Shows start again, I try and do something new. Bit behind this year due to ill-health though that's why over the last few months, yes I've been extra busy trying to catch up and do something for this year.
Each year its always the same question when you attend the shows - whats new?. So yes, its nice to do something that interests other collectors.
Reference the backdrop to this picture, yes it really was a tyre dump fire. February 26th, 1988 at Jamison Farm, between Henfield and Albourne in West Sussex. Can't remember how many pumps we had, but there was alot of hose running (pump relay) due to nearest mains water supply being on the A24 (London-Brighton road) around 1 1/4 miles from the incident. Certainly brings back a few good memories.
