Langley Models kit of the Austin 60' TL

painted as a NFS machine. Still trying to find out if any were based in the Edinburgh area though I do know one operated out of Dumfries in the more usual red colourscheme post-war.

Hi Stevie,

Thanks for the info guys. Looking at the decal sheets I have, I am going to have to do a cut and hop job on the number plates. But hey isn't that what modelling is all about?. Thanks again guys for the info.

Stevie, what are your general thoughts about the making of this Langley model of the Austin K4 TL?.These models seem a little expensive but I'd like to buy this one but need a little feed back on the product first please.Pete.

The Langley models are actually quite decent in my opinion , however, ( always a but eh? ) the ladder on this kit was a bit of a bugger to try and construct but i think I did an okay job with it. Compared to BW Models, these are better in that you get chassis detail, pump etc etc. S'pose it's up to the individual what they want to spend. Compared to an ex-soar-art model I saw of a TL ( £85 ) and a PHP ( £103 ) these are good value!!!. Only thing I would look for to be issued with the kit is appropriate decals for the model. In saying that I went and got myself another of these TL kits to paint as a red SEAFB machine.

Thanks Stevie, yea you'd think these manufactures would include the transfers with the model to finish it off, also moulded clear window (glass) pains. Thanks for your reply,Pete.

Stevie,SEAFB didnt have the 60 ft.T/L painted red,but the one at Stirling was eventually painted red with some yellow lining.

Was the machine at Dumfries not painted red?

All the EX NFS appliances that were in service post 1948 were eventually painted red,and I assume the Dumfries one also was repainted.
